Student Life
The Student Life Division provides living space for our students whose families live too far for a daily commute. Our trained, ASL-fluent residential staff members teach students to develop their self-esteem, leadership and independent living skills.
After school, Student Life provides a wide range of age-appropriate programs and activities, after-school tutoring and study space. Each cottage has a designated study time every evening.
Our highest priority is to ensure each child’s safety, to give them a space away from home to develop into mature, cooperative and academically successful adults who will make a difference in their home communities. Students' attendance is regularly checked by cottage staff and night attendants. We encourage students to build strong relationships with family members, teaching them how to communicate with non-ASL users through videophones, phones, mobiles, or email. We follow the model of Positive Discipline, a program designed to teach important social and life skills in a matter that is deeply respectful and encouraging for both children and adults.
Our mission is to provide an environment where students are empowered in making life-long positive choices, developing independence and creating a sense of belonging.
